BANDUNG, TEL-U – Electricity has become a major requirement for society. Unfortunately, electricity cannot be enjoyed by most people of Indonesia. One is Sindangkarta village located in Cipatujah district, Tasikmalaya, West Java.

Sindangkarta village is only about 6 kilometers from the capital district Cipatujah. However, until today the village is not electrified by PLN yet.

This situation encouraged the Community Service Team of Telkom University Faculty of Engineering Industry (FRI Abdimas Tel-U) created installation program namely Low Speed Wind Turbine Generator Vent in Sindangkarta village on September 25th. This wind-powered turbines installed in two houses to get a supply of wind better than the other houses in the village.

This program was the result of cooperation between FRI Tel-U with PT. Ray Energy Solutions supported by the Directorate of PPM Tel-U and PT. NET Mediatama Indonesia.

According Rosad Ma’ali El Hadi, MT, lecturer FRI, this wind turbine has a maximum capacity up to 650 W and has an installed power up to 500 W. It also contained a battery capable of storing electricity supply to save energy. “So if there is no wind can turn the turbine, the battery is still able to conduct electricity,” he said on Thursday (1/10).

Vice Dean II FRI Tel-U, Rd. Rohmat Saedudin, S.T., M.T. explained that the implementation of these wind turbines as tangible evidence of Community Service program Tel-U according to the South Beach program is also aligned with the West Java and West Java provincial government program. “Hopefully, the wind turbine can be used well and improve the society welfare in Sindangkarta village,” he said.

In line with Rohmat, Vice Rector IV, Dr. M. Yahya Arwiyah, SH., MH, said that what was done by the Community Service Team Tel-U is nothing compared to the needs of Cipatujah people. “But despite the assistance we provide reactive still small, hopefully the benefits can be felt by the community,” he said.

The program earned positive response from Cipatujah people. They hope, this will sustainable and fulfill with activities that are more useful in the future. (purel / ead)
