First Gift in 2017, Tel-U Achieved the Accreditation from BAN-PT

BANDUNG, TEL-U – Ended the 2016 and step into 2017, Telkom University (Tel-U) received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT). This accreditation is officially stated in the Decree of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT SK) No: 3125 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / PT / XII / 2016 which is resulted in the late 2016.

This accreditation is certainly a good news for Tel-U academicians and seems to be a New Year gift.

Appreciation was delivered by the Rector of Tel-U, Prof. Ir Mochamad Ashari, MEng, PhD. Rector said that the current of 4,500 universities in Indonesia, only 48 universities are accredited, and Tel-U was stated as one of them.

“Now Tel-U is comparable with universities in Indonesia that bears “A” accreditation, while A is a recognition of BAN-PT about the quality of Tel-U,” he said.

He added that, in assessing an institution of higher education refers to the seven standard assessment. The first included vision, mission, goals, objectives and strategies for achieving the goal. The second standard included the Civil Administration, leadership, management systems and quality assurance. The third standard included students and alumni, the fourth goes to human resources. The fifth standard asses the learning curriculum. The sixth standard included infrastructure and information systems, and the last one is investigate the form of research, service / community service, and cooperation.

“Alhamdulillah, Tel-U reach the highest point for the research, service or dedication to the community, in addition to international cooperation Tel-U also gain an appreciation of BAN-PT,” he said.

Rector added that this achievement is a pride for Tel-U academicians because it is not easy to get it. On the other hand, the acquisition of A accreditation, lead Tel-U to many targets either long-term or short-term.

“For example, our target for the short term is to increase the number of S3 lecturer, a large number of teachers are also still to be improved as well as the realization of our latest research centers namely Research Center for Advanced Wireless Technologies (AdWiTech). As for the long-term targets, Tel-U should be a research university in 2023, “he said.

Rector also expressed gratitude to the entire academic community of Tel-U which has contributed substantial to achieve A accreditation.

“Thanks to the lecturer, staff, students, partners, Telkom Education Foundation (YPT) and to the Ministry of Higher Education, Kopertis, local governments, provincial and national. Hopefully, Tel-U is getting better and contribute to build Indonesia through education, “he said. (PR / AW)
