Indonesia Urgently Improve Cyber Security Capacity Building

JAKARTA, TEL-U – Director General of Ministry of Communications and Informatics Applications Information (Dirjen Aptika), Bambang Heru Tjahyono said it is the time for Indonesia to increase the Cyber Security Capacity (Cyber Security Capacity Building).

It is delivered by Bambang at the opening of the Focus Group Discussions (FGD) entitled “Cyber Security Policy Assessment in Indonesia” held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Monday (28/9).

According to Bambang, the importance of Cyber Security Capacity Building has been discussed earlier in the conference’s first Global Conference and Cyberspace (GCCS) held in 2011 in London, England. “This continue in 2012 which represented by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then last April in The Hague, the Netherlands, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology,” he said.

Bambang added that these activities could make recommendations to the Government Building Cyber Security Indonesian government, which is currently preparing roadmap cyber security that begins with data protection strategic institution.

The event will last until-Wednesday (30/9) and attended by representatives of institutions, among others, Tel-U, the British Embassy, the Oxford Internet Institute, ITB, BNN, police, KPK, BTTP, and APIKOM.

Telkom Rector University (Tel-U), Prof. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M.Eng Ph.D welcomed this meeting. He said that this is an opportunity for Tel-U to conduct research with a number of parties, especially the Oxford University. “We have a Research Center for ICT Business and Public Policy which can cooperate to provide recommendations for the development of government programs through Ministry of Communications and Information Technology,” he said.
