Tel-U Introduced the Cultural Diversity in Java Island Through KPI

BANDUNG, TEL-U – D3 Hospitality, School of Applied Sciences Telkom University (FIT Tel-U) in collaboration with Business Travel Study Program, Bandung State Polytechnic (UPW-Polban), Marketing Management and Tourism Study Program (MPP-UPI), and Hospitality Study Program, University of Tujuh Belas Agustus, Cirebon organized Indonesia Tourism Competition (KPI). This event took place in FIT Tel-U and Polban started on 12-13 May 2016.

National level competition has been running for six times since 2009 in Polban. And this 2016 is the seventh with the theme of “Java’s Cultural Festival wins Global Tourism” and is open to high school and college students throughout Indonesia.

Carrying the slogan “De Chronicle van Java” The 7th KPI raised the concept of a cultural festival on the history, beauty, and wealth on the island of Java. The competition which was followed by 478 participants included nine provinces such as West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, Jakarta, Bali, Kupang, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.

Approximate 16 types of competitions in the 7th KPI included tour package, event proposals, guiding, sabre, Quiz Tourism, travel writing, short movie, poster, photography, acoustic, traditional dance, creative work of costume festival, tourism advertising video , tray on the road, table set up and cooking battle.

“Especially located in Tel-U, we are holding a competition in the field of hospitality and held the battle cooking competition, table set-up, food display and tray on the road. These competition was followed about 61 participants from nine provinces,” said Manager of Daily Operational Kaprodi Ersy Ervina , S. Sos., MM.Par.

On this event, Tel-U prepared three teams for the category of cooking battle and food display, two participants on the tray on the road and three participants at the table set up.

The assessment included the category of taste, texture, creativity, neatness and punctuality. All the assessments done by professional judges from the Hotel industry with five-star standard.

Tel-U students, Aldila Pranesty Permadi won 3rd place in the category table set up. While Yusuf Santana won the second place from ICB and first champion won by Ni Putu Novi Pradina from STP Bali.

Then, for the category of cooking battle was achieved by Academic Tataboga Bandung as the 1st champion, Oki Krisnaldi from STP Bogor as the 2nd and Rimba Cahaya from Akpar NHI as the 3rd. While the 1st champion for the category of Tray On The Road achieved by Indra M.Tri K.S. from STIEPAR, the 2nd won by Arnanto Mandala Kurnia from SMK 3 Sukabumi, and Gesa from STIEPAR became the 3rd.

Ersy expected that this event could become an annual event for Tel-U hospitality students in order to continue to test the competence of students at Indonesian industry. “In addition, our goal is also to introduce D3 hospitality Tel-U to the Indonesian”. (Purel / AW)
