Telkom University Draw Up The International Accreditation

BANDUNG, Telkom University – The growth of universities in the world are increasingly competitive, based on the official data at Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek DIKTI), there is at least 3,000 more universities compete for the best ranking in Indonesia.

Telkom University welcomes this competition by strengthening the quality of academic, research, infrastructure, and other things which are directly related to university. To that end, since it was established as a university in 2013, Telkom University continue to build the campus up to reach the top, world-class university with a high standard of research, academic and community expediency.

The commitment can be seen from the “A” Acreditation of Higher Education Accreditation (AIPT). Continuing this success, Telkom University more solid and progressive to prepare the next steps. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is a world rating agencies which is set as next achievement target of Telkom University.

Thursday (09.02.17) Telkom University held the sharing session with Brawijaya University (UB) Malang, specifically addresses the strategic step to realize the World Class University. The Chairman of the UB International Ranking was invited as a speaker. Brawijaya University or well known as UB is a university in Indonesia which succesfully managed to achieved the QS rankings.

Telkom University Rector, Professor Mochamad Ashari expected that in the future, Telkom University can step into the world university community. “Certainly as a reputeable university with good research reputation, especially because we have strong scientific base, which is the technology. Thus, the expectation is, to enter the world rankings, and to make it happen, it needs the support from all stakeholder in Telkom University “he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Heroe Wijanto expressed his optimism related to the achievements of Telkom University in the future.
“Telkom University currently pursuing world ranking such as Quacquarelli Symonds, which is a reputable institution and assign as world’s reference, after AIPT visitation last year, we immediately prepared all requirements in order to qualify for QS admission”, he said in the middle of meeting.

“We held this sharing session and request to UB to share knowledge related QS ranking, where UB which succesfully achieved QS ranking previously” he added.

On his explanation, Adharul said that the QS is not easily achieved, since the indicators used are completely world standard. There are at least 11 points required by the university to achieve the ranking list, academic reputation, employer reputation, papers per faculty, citations per paper, citations per faculty, research impact, faculty / student ratio, international faculty, international students, inbound exchange students and outbound exchange students.

“Those 11 points, the academic reputation has the highest weighting at 40%. Where the academic reputation assessed on the basis of data obtained using a global research which aims to show the college which has a strong reputation in the international community “, said Adharul.

According to the calculation of the indicators will then be ranked from 1 000 universities of the world, including 350 universities in Asia. Seeing the condition of Telkom University,Adharul optimist that this campus has possibility to achieve it.

“If you look at the data, Telkom University was prepared that way (QS rankings), particularly institutional support to research and academic climate which is very serious and adequate.
