Tel-U Lecturer Conducted the International Level Cyber Security Training
BANDUNG, Telkom University – Cyber Security has become a priority issue of all countries in the world since information and communication technology is utilized in various aspects of life, citing from the official website of the National Cyber and Code Agency (BSSN), noting that throughout 2018 it detected attacks and cyber-attack trials totaling 229.4 million times with the highest traffic between June and July 2018.
Seeing this issue, to improve competency in the cyber world, dozens of Telkom University (Tel-U) lecturers conducted training and certification entitled Training on “Cyber Security Infrastructure Configuration” organized by the School of Electrical Engineering (FTE) through Network and Multimedia Expertise Group with Palo Alto Networks (PAN) in the FTE Building from 22 to 26 July 2019.
The participants consist of 18 Tel-U lecturers and 2 lecturers from 2 universities in Bandung. Dr. Istikamal, the participant and chairman of the committee, explained that the trainer in this activity was Mr. Saravanan Rajagopal, training manager & lead technical trainer from Palo Alto Networks (PAN) Singapore.
“Actually the purpose of this training is to provide the training & international certification for Tel-U lecturers, especially in the field of network security. After this training, we expect that the participants will become a certified trainer and acquire a license to become instructors for Tel-U and non-Tel-U students in related study programs (Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Informatics Engineering). ”
Istikamal added that PAN as the number 1 Cyber Security (firewall) company in the world based on Gartner Magic Quadrant also provided in-kind assistance worth USD 39,000 in the form of a virtual firewall laboratory and USD 36,000 in CSR training “cyber security configuration” and “train the trainer”.
