BANDUNG, Telkom University – Global Learning Week (GLOW) is back to show by Telkom University. In this 4th-year event, Glow will be held for 1 week from July 13, 2020, to July 24, 2020.
At the Online Opening through Zoom Meeting, Monday (13/7), Glow 2020 will be different from previous years, wherein the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic all teaching and learning activities in the Glow program will be held online.
GLOW 2020 was attended by as many as 401 Telkom University International students from 9 study programs and 6 Faculties. They will participate in 15 courses from 15 lecturers of 6 countries. The 15 teaching staff also will be accompanied by 15 Co-Lecturers from Telkom University.
During one week, students will learn about the latest technological innovations, trends in design, and art. They also exposed by the influence on society and how to open up insights and analyze how trends are developing nowadays.
Dr. Dadan Rahadian Vice-Rector I for Academic Affairs Telkom University open the ceremony by explaining about online teaching and learning activities like a New Normal in education. Therefore, Glow 2020 all events will take place online.
“Telkom University would like to thank all the teaching staff from 6 countries who participated in this Glow 2020 program. Despite this pandemic, all students who participate in this program can remain enthusiastic and able to open new perspectives going forward.” He said.

The synergy of Management, Technology, and Innovation in Creating Competitive Business Growth (SCBTII XI)
Zoom, Telkom University – As the best private campus in Indonesia Telkom University organize an annual International Conference to strengthen the cooperative relationship between Tel-U and other international universities, and also to keep abreast of the latest global developments in Technology, Business, and innovation.
On Friday (10/7), The School of Economics and Business (FEB) held the 11th Sustainable Collaboration in Business, Technology, Information, and Innovation (SCBTII). SCBTII is an international conference of Academics, Professionals, Entrepreneurs, Researchers, Students, and other relevant which interested in theory and practice in the digital economy to strengthen global competitiveness.
In the 2020 SCBTII, the topic is Synergizing Management, Technology, and Innovation in Generating Sustainable and Competitive Business Growth. The topic was taken based on World Bank data which showed that the rate of global economic growth in 2019 weakened to 3.6% from the previous 3%.
Supporting the concept of Economic Transformation, it needs support from various sectors. Every company must have the ability to create sustainable competitive advantages such as good management skills, mastery of technology, innovation strategies to adapt to current trends.
To discuss more on it, Tel-U invited three speakers who are experts in their respective fields.
The Keynote Speaker at this event was Telkom Indonesia Enterprise Planning & Strategy VP, namely Ir. Ahmad Hartono, M.M., discussed the Corporate Strategy to Build the Sustainable & Competitive Business in Economic Transformation.
The next speaker was Senior Lecturer from Taylor University, Malaysia, Dr. Muhammad Haseeb will discuss Using Well-Being Research to Transform Our World.
The third speaker was Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Telkom University, namely Dr. Dadan Rahadian, S.T., M.M. with material on Mastering Science and Technology in Generating Competitive and Sustainable Business in Banking Sector.
Ir. Ahmad Hartono explained that National Digital Transformation encompasses the three main major sectors, namely Government, Companies, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). In the government sector, the implementation of digital technology is greatest in Agriculture, Health, Logistics, and Education. Likewise in the other two sectors namely companies and SMEs, Every year it grows both in digital facilities (Enterprise) and online market share for SMEs.
“Transformation is a must, starting from the following three points. First is Building talented individuals and global competitiveness (People). Second, Initiatives that have a positive impact on the company (Culture), and the last is creating an Efficient & Organizational structure (Organization).” Said Ahmad.
Furthermore, an interesting discussion from Muhammad Haseeb discusses how Well-Being and Happiness can transform us into better individuals and help change the world. He concluded that Welfare has two main keywords, namely Feeling Good (Being Happy) and Functioning (Beneficial) properly. So when these two things are achieved, the individual can work productively and contribute well to his community.
The last discussion from Dr. Dadan Rahadian about how the challenges faced by the banking sector in this Digital Economy Transformation. Data shows that starting in 2008, the biggest challenges and threats to the banking sector were the mushrooming of Financial Technology (Fintech) companies in Indonesia.
“Why did that happen? Because many borrowers and financiers switched from banks and started using Fintech. For example Peer to Peer lending. Aside from the faster process, the interest is fairly affordable. Everyone in the P2P business can become a borrower and benefit from the difference in interest and principal. ” Say Dadan.
Reiterating, Dadan also said that in recent years Banking began to expand its wings to hook the millennial market by launching youth-friendly products and participating in the P2P business.
“Now, young people can open bank accounts directly from home. No need to bother going to the office. Some banks even provide pick-up services for new customers. This is an innovation to survive the impact of today’s digital economic transformation. ” He explained.
Every institution and company has its way of dealing with the transformation of the digital economy that has begun to take place in recent years. Everything aims to work together to create a management system, technology, and innovation in growing a competitive business.
