Located at Andalas University as the host of the event. This competition takes place online starting in May 2021 for registration and the culmination of the event is carried out in a hybrid manner and broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the National Achievement Center on September 19, 2021.

The Telkom University student team consisting of M. Yusuf Basqara, Akhdan Pangestuaji, Pramudia Putra Pamungkas, students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Telkom University, won third place in the Education Digital Technology Innovation category. They named their team as the Kemendikbud Team with the supervisor Dr.Eng. Alfian Akbar Gozali.

Yusuf said that he and his team succeeded in making an application titled “Re Carbon” which is an environmental education application as a step to reduce carbon emissions (CO2) and increase environmental awareness.

“In this application, there is a carbon calculator that functions to calculate individual carbon emissions, which will then have learning features and gamification features to realize carbon emission reductions through the tasks given and recommendations for what activities need to be done to reduce carbon emissions. ”

Through quite a long preparation, Yusuf said, starting from his interest in addressing environmental issues/climate change, it grew since Yusuf became a volunteer as well as participating in competitions related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

“The application that we made was originally to fulfill the task of a level 2 course, but based on the results of discussions with the team and our supervisor, we finally developed it further, the development of this application is also based on our anxiety about environmental issues that are currently spreading.”

Yusuf hopes that this application can continue to be developed, even enjoyed by the wider community, so that it can help overcome current environmental issues.

“We will continue to develop this application, and we will continue to conduct further evaluations so that we can create startups engaged in the environment/climate change so that this application will be sustainable as a large ecosystem in moving many elements of society,” he said.
