BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University Youth Choir managed to bring a proud performance at the international level choral competition titled 2021 World Youth Choral Festival & Competition – Jeju, Korea. Thanks to this beautiful appearance, Telkom University Youth Choir obtained a proud achievement. This competition will be held virtually on 21-23 July 2021 on the Jeju World Youth Choral Festival Youtube channel.
Telkom University Youth Choir is the newest sub-choir of the Telkom University Choir, consisting of 128 people aged 18-20 years, members of the Telkom University Youth Choir are selected people who have passed various kinds of audition processes which were last opened in 2020.
In this competition, there were 24 participating choirs from 6 countries, namely: Korea, the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia. The competition was attended by 6 judges and world-class choir experts, namely Youngjo Lee (Korea), T.J Harper (United States), Andrea Angelini (Italy), Shinhwa Park (Korea), Marcin Tomczak (Poland), Jennifer Tham (Singapore). In this competition, Telkom University Youth Choir participated under the guidance of conductor Aldo Randy Ginting.
In this competition, Telkom University Youth Choir took part in the competition in category D (Virtual Choir) and performed the song Only In Sleep, by ?riks Ešenvalds, a composer from Latvia, Northern Europe. By singing the song, Telkom University Youth Choir won a Gold Medal (with a score of 90.0 – 100.0).
“This competition is attended by new members of the Telkom University Youth Choir which is held internationally. In a fairly short time, TUYC members can develop their abilities and present their best to participate in the 2021 World Youth Choral Festival competition,” said Arinda Nugroho as the head of the competition team.
