Telkom University Choir Won Lots Of Achievements on 7th Satya DharmaGita Choir Festival 2019

SEMARANG, Telkom University – Telkom University Choir received a proud achievement in an international choir competition, 7th Satya Dharma Gita Choir Festival 2019 – Semarang, Indonesia which was held on 27 – 31 August 2019.

The competition was attended by 45 choirs from various parts of Indonesia and also attended by 15 world-class jury and choir experts. Telkom University Choir participated in 3 categories in the 7th Satya Dharma Gita Choir Festival 2019, there were Mixed Choir, Music of Religions and Folksong.

In the Mixed Choir category which was held on August 29, 2019, and housed in Radjawali Semarang Cultural Center Building, Telkom University Choir brought Exultate Deo by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, a compulsory song entitled Silence by Agastya Rama Listya and Beat Soul by Ken Steven. While in the Music of Religions category held on the same day, Telkom University Choir performed Ave Maria song by Ming-Chieh Lin, Asmaul Husna by Amillio Fahlevi and Daniel, Servant of the Lord arranged by Stacey V. Gibbs.

In the Folksong category which was held on September 1, 2019, the team also performed 3 folk songs from Indonesia and Latvia namely Atsalums (Latvia) by Jēkabs Jančevskis, Percomah (Sunda) by Koko Koswara, and Janger (Bali) arranged by Avip Priatna and Agustinus Bambang Jusana.

In the 7th Satya Dharma Gita Choir Festival 2019 competition, Telkom University Choir won 3 Gold Medals in each category participated. They also successfully became the first champion in the Folksong category and won the Category Champion with a score of 87.04.

This victory led Telkom University Choir became one of the Grand Champion Finalists from 9 selected choirs, namely PSM ITB, Cantabile Chorale, Viva Brio Choir, Espero Choir, Lentera Kasih, Bosko Voice, Harmony Santo Yusup, and 78 Youth Choir. The Grand Champion round was held at Radjawali Semarang Cultural Center on August 31, 2019. Of the 9 choirs, Telkom University Choir succeeded in becoming the 2nd Winner of Grand Champion.

Not only that, Ryan Farrel Idiarto, as a member of Telkom University Choir, also won the Choral Composition Competition and succeeded in bringing home 2 Silver Medals. He won the Silver A Medal in the Secular Music category with the song As the Abandoned and the Silver B Medal in the Sacred Music category with the song Laudate Dominum (Psalm 117: 1-2).
