Telkom University Inaugurates 1,411 Graduands

BANDUNG, Telkom University – The Senate Open Session of Telkom University (Tel-U) with the agenda of Graduation Ceremony for Masters, Undergraduate, and Intermediate Period II Academic Year 2020/2021 was held on Saturday (April 10, 2021). In the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, Telkom University graduation is organized online, through ZOOM, and broadcasted on Telkom University YouTube channel.

On this occasion, the Chair of the Senate of Telkom University Dr. Ismail confirmed 1,411 graduates from 31 study programs, among 37 study programs in seven faculties at Telkom University.

After going through this inauguration procession, the graduates will join the Telkom University Alumni Forum (FAST) with a total of 58,536 alumni and spread across 30 countries including the United States, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Netherland, Sweden, Norway, France , Germany, Belgium, Poland, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Nigeria, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Timor Leste.

According to Dr. Anisah Firlli, head of the committee for the second period of graduation, the theme for the graduation was “Love Frome Home”, it is an expression of love and support from both graduates and parents/guardians.

“The struggle in taking higher education is not easy, with the inauguration of Telkom University graduates today, it is a form of expression of love that has been poured from people at home to graduates because undergoing the last year of education at home is not easy, but with love and affection from the people of the house, thank God you got through this well. ” He explained.

Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. In his speech, Adiwijaya felt proud of all the graduates who had completed their education at Telkom University.

“Congratulations to all graduates, during this pandemic, they are still eager to complete their obligations as students so that they can carry out the graduation, even though this graduation is a little different, hopefully, it does not dampen our enthusiasm to continue to provide the best for our beloved nation.” He explained.

Prof. Adiwijaya said, in 2021 this time Telkom University is targeting to become a university by prioritizing Research University by having International Research Quality Excellence.

“As a university that has won the Widyapadhi Award for three consecutive years (2018, 2019 and 2020) as the best university in innovation management, Tel-U has also since 2019 entered Telkom University’s research into the Independent Cluster, namely the” Highest “cluster. from the Ministry of Research and Technology-National Agency for Research and Innovation, ”he explained.

Telkom University as a university that has been accredited A from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), has also received national recognition as the best private university (PTS) in Indonesia for 2 consecutive years (2019 and 2020).

The Rector of Telkom University said, of the 37 study programs he owns, as many as 65% or 24 study programs have been accredited Excellence & A, and 59% or 19 study programs have been internationally accredited from several international institutions such as IABEE, ASIC and ABEST 21.

“We need to say that, Tel-U managed to achieve a small ranking, which this time through the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) page, Telkom University is in the ranks of the world’s best universities and is included in the 9 best universities in Indonesia side by side with 8 State Universities (PTN). ” He said.

In a ranking based on a certain subject or scientific field, Prof. Adiwijaya added that Tel-U managed to occupy the top five positions for the subject of Computer Science and is ranked 601-800 in the world.

“Apart from that, we (Tel-U) also managed to get into the top eight of Indonesia in the engineering subject, fifth in the Computer Science subject, and based on the assessment score, Telkom University managed to get the highest score on the citation indicator (Citations) and put Tel. -U became the best Indonesian university according to the Times Higher Education Category Score citations in Indonesia. ” He explained.

Still from THE WUR, Telkom University has also made it into the top 8 best universities in Indonesia according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, as well as being ranked in the world’s top 500 in the Emerging Economies University category.

“Especially for the field of Computer Science, we are in 4th place and 6th in the engineering sector from the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, for all universities in Indonesia.” He said

The quality assessment of Telkom University is also recognized worldwide again, Prof. Adiwijaya said that Telkom University won four stars in the QS Stars assessment, where based on several indicators Tel-U won five stars, covering the fields of Teaching (Teaching), Employability, Academic Development, Facilities, Inclusiveness, Program Strength: Bachelor of Informatics and Online Learning.

“And currently in the ASIA Regional QS World University Rankings, Telkom University is ranked 401-450, from 11 assessment indicators; Telkom University achieved the highest score on the International Faculty (International Class) indicator.” He said.

At Telkom University, Prof. Adiwijaya said that Tel-U has implemented the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka program, and has prepared 3 lines of Work Ready Program (WRAP).

“Through this route, we invite students to choose to graduate with their respective expertise, where the three WRAPs are Researchship (with research), Internship (with internships in Industry), and Entrepreneurship (by building new businesses).” He explained.

Through his remarks, Prof. Adiwijaya advised all the graduates who are currently happy, that the tagline of Telkom University as a future leader is a commitment to producing a well-educated generation for the nation. Therefore, in the face of rapid technological changes today.

“There are 3 things that must be done, including creativity and innovation, which must become a habit, so that they can not only use technology but can take advantage of technology to accelerate solutions to overcome existing problems. Also, we must continue to be able to evaluate and introspect ourselves so that we can make continuous improvements to create a better personality from day today. Furthermore, don’t forget that what we are doing must always comply with the prevailing norms and regulations. ” He explained.

Through these 3 parameters, in the future, Telkom University graduates can be said to be well educated.
