Telkom University with Alumni Organize Joint Prayers and Fund Raising

BANDUNG, Telkom University – The increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia to this day is increasingly concerning, millions of people have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus, and not a few have died due to the Covid-19 virus attack.

Telkom University through the Directorate of Career Alumni & Endowment (CAE) with the entire Academic Community of Telkom University and all alumni organized a joint prayer from home while raising donations for the healing and safety of friends, community members, Telkom University alumni, and the Indonesian people.

The event organized online via Zoom and broadcast on Telkom University’s Youtube channel, was attended by academics, both lecturers, employees, students, and alumni of Telkom University from the first batch to the newest batch.

Director of CAE AT Hanuranto said, based on data compiled by Telkom University, at least 700 Tel-U extended families, ranging from students, lecturers, employees, and alumni who have been exposed to Covid-19, and currently, there are around 250 people who are struggling to recover.

“However, as many as 35 of our relatives had to die plus dozens of families from alumni, the families of Telkom University academics who had to precede us.” Say AT.

From these concerns, through this event, Telkom University wants to invite the entire Tel-U family, starting from students, lecturers, employees, and alumni to pray together and ease the burden on the Tel-U family and the surrounding community from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The more we spread empathy and enthusiasm to be healthy again and of course together we pray for those who are currently struggling against Covid-19 and pray for our brothers and sisters who have gone before us.” Obviously.

Rector of Telkom University Prof. Adiwijaya conveyed that the message he wanted to convey through this activity was to foster empathy for others, pray for and strengthen one another, to get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Besides that, in this event, we also hope that all levels of society can participate, that this is our shared responsibility, because right now Indonesia and even the world is not doing well because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and this is our common problem, and we have to be the solution to this problem.” Obviously.

In this event there was a joint prayer event from interfaith, there were four religious leaders present to lead the prayers of each religion, including Gede Agung Wisudawan as a Hindu religious leader, IG Prasetya Dwi Wibawa as a Catholic religious leader, Kris Sujatmoko a Christian leader and Deden Syarif Hidayatulloh as a leader of Islam.

During the event, fundraising was opened and until the event ended, Rp. 84,520,000,- which was collected from the academic community of Telkom University, Alumni, and Telkom Education Foundation. This donation will still be open until July 31, 2021, and for the public or Telkom University extended family who want to donate, they can go through Bank Syariah Indonesia Account number (451) 777 0707 271 on behalf of Telkom University Endowment Peduli.
