Government Promises the Higher Education Quality Improvement

BANDUNG, TEL-U – The government through the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education will progressively provide support in the form of policies, programs, and budgets so that universities discharge the movement to improve the quality of higher education, research and innovation to support the competitiveness of nations.

This was conveyed by Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. Mohamad Nasir in a speech read by Vice-Rector of Tel-U, Dr. Heroe Wijanto, Ir., MT at ceremony of National Education Day on Saturday (2/5). The ceremony took place in the square in front of the Faculty of Informatics attended by lecturer, staff and students.

At the speech, Nasir said, there are two ways that higher education can support to the nation’s competitiveness. “First by producing skilled workers needed by the job, and the second is to produce innovations that can provide direct economic benefits for the community,” he said.
Moreover he explained, to be able to produce skilled manpower and innovation, several things must be done by universities that is the progressive development and implementation of internal quality assurance system in accordance with SNPT. “Thus, in 2019 can be achieved 15,000 accredited excellent programs and 194 accredited excellent universities,” he said.

In addition, there should also be an increase in human resources, programs, and incentives to conduct innovative research. Even so, 2019 could later be produced innovative research with the 6 level of technology readiness by more than 1,000 prototype and 7 level of technology readiness of 15 studies.
“The support of this innovation is done by strengthening the network with the industry to collaborate to produce innovations that can provide direct economic benefits to the communities,” he said. (Purel / risca)
