BANDUNG, TEL-U – The Telkom Smart Campus Award (TeSCA) Team visited Telkom University campus, Friday (30/5). The visit of TeSCA Team was greeted by Vice of Rector I Academic Affairs and Information Systems Dr Heroe Wijanto and Director of SISFO Yanuar Firdaus Ari Wibowo, Operational Manager of Information System Bani Setiaji, Communication and Customer Service Manager Dedy Rahman Wijaya, ST., MT, and the rest of Sisfo staffs.

TeSCA is a program established by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk in collaboration with Director General of Higher Education (DIKTI), Board of the National Information and Communication Technology (DETIKNAS), Ministry of Education and Culture, and The College Association of Information and Technology Science (APTIKOM). Made to look and assess how extent a college utilizing information and communication technology, the program was first established in 2008 and continuing each year with some improvements.

In this visit, Arief Gaffar as The Assessor of TeSCA examines the completeness of written data (hard copy) that had been prepared by Sisfo.  Arief also clarify the questions that have been submitted previously by questionnaire containing 119 questions. Questionnaires were, among others, contains the bandwidth capacity owned by Telkom University, the number of computers, as well as the percentage of the operating system software that is currently legally used by students, faculty, and staff on campus.

While examining the completeness of documents, Arif praised the Sisfo team of Tel-U for they had already prepared the documents properly. “Frankly, these documents are more complete than those other campuses prepared which I visited before,” said Arief. In the questionnaire clarification session, Arief asked a number of matters related to the implementation of information systems in the Tel-U, among others, the usage of wifi. “The scope or coverage of both infrastructure-based wireless hotspots, and campus wireless environment has reached 100 percent,” said director of SISFO Yanuar Firdaus Ari WIbowo.

Moreover, Arief also provided the input to Sisfo for the development of information systems in Telkom University.  The input was also related with clear and detailed document such as Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the management of information technology and communications in college. “It’s better to adopt the best practices that already exist, implemented and followed. We can take the example of ISO 20000 for example, “said Arief.

TeSCA program involves the Secretary of the Board of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof.. Ir. Nizam, MSc., Ph.D., Chairman of Aptikom Prof. Dr. Richardus Eko Indrajit, and Vice Chairman of the Board of the National Information and Communication Technology (DETIKNAS) Prof. Zainal A.
