BANDUNG, Telkom University – Understanding the cross-field needs in development, Telkom University holds an international conference entitled Digital-era Communication Transformation. The theme was consistently promoted by the best information technology-based universities in Indonesia. Present as speakers were British, Spanish, Malaysian and Indonesian researchers.
In the opening, the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, represented by the Director of the Research Center for Chemical, Metal, Machinery and Electronics Industry, said that efforts to synergize higher education with industry are needed in the current era of 4.0.
“We are in a collaborative world, there must be a synergy between universities, technology, government and industry in advancing the nation and state, appreciation is always given to Telkom University which has consistently fostered a developed awareness from an academic perspective like this,” he said.
Met at the same place, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Business Ade Irma Susanty Ph.D. said that the conference she held was an academic moral responsibility for the benefit of the wider community. “This effort is part of supporting the industry in Indonesia to be more innovative, Telkom University as an educational institution is required to produce serious discoveries, so that our existence is truly beneficial to the wider community,” he explained on the sidelines of the conference on Thursday (4/4).
The international conference, better known as the International Conference on Transformation in Communication (ICoTiC), is the fourth time, so far it has succeeded in bringing together researchers and academics from various countries across continents. Chairperson of the committee, Dedi Kurnia Syah Putra, said that the activity, which lasted for two days from Thursday to Friday, April 4-5 2019, was intended not only for academics.
“We managed to gather cross-stakeholder researchers from several countries, from independent research institutions, universities, even from postgraduate students even though we gave space to present the findings related to the theme,” he said.
Asked about the contribution of universities in advancing the Indonesian industry, Dedi was optimistic that synergies have occurred in many industrial fields. Even frankly, synergy is not only universities and industries but also with technology and government.
“Telkom University has carried out multi-helix research in advance (progress gathered from many factors), one of which is a synergizing university, technology, industry, and government regulation innovations. When the four things collaborate, the progress is in front of the view, “he concluded.
