Bandung, Telkom University – The School of Creative Industries (FIK) Telkom University (Tel-U) again held the 2021 Bandung Creative Movement (BCM) International Conference on Thursday (9/9) online via Zoom Meeting.
BCM is an international conference that is regularly held every year. The theme for the 8th BCM was “Embracing Future Creative Industries for Environment and Advanced Society 5.0 in Post-Pandemic Era“.
In this era of Society 5.0, humans are the main component or known as Human-Centered. This is expected to be able to create new value through the development of science and technology to minimize the gap between humans and solve economic problems in the future. So how does it relate to the creative industry?
There are 3 (three) major topics raised to answer the current era of society 5.0 to be able to harmonize the conditions of the creative industry, including Sustainable Cities and Communities; Art and Design: Recontextualization of Nusantara and Indigenous Culture; and Changes and Dynamics in The Creative Industries.
Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya revealed that this international conference could be a forum for exchanging ideas between practitioners.
“This pandemic has made us more creative in looking for innovations to be able to adapt in solving problems in the future. Through this international conference, it is not only to increase international publications, more than that as a place for publication and media exposure. Furthermore, it becomes a forum for exchanging ideas about business or research for future collaborations.” said the rector.
The conference provides an opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas and new application experiences firsthand, build business or research relationships, and find global partners for future collaborations.
Dean of the School of Creative Industries, Dr. Roro Retno Wulan, S.Sos, M.Pd, also said that in facing the post-pandemic era, all parties need to collaborate, especially in facing the era of society 5.0 which we cannot avoid. The key is to adapt to the circumstances.
Several Keynote Speakers attended this event, namely Prof. Lia Vilahur Chiaraviglio / EU ERAM University of Girona UdG Spain; Dr. Riksa Belasunda / Telkom University; Sheng-Hung Lee / MS Candidate, MIT IDM and MIT Mechanical Engineering; Dr. Mohammed Lazhar / Ibn Zohr University; Assoc. Prof. Panizza Almark / Edith Cowan University; and Muhammad Neil El Himam / Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia.
For information, the conference which has been held annually since 2014 consists of three major activities, namely the International Conference in the Creative Industry, Creative Industry Professional Workshop, and the International Exhibition of Art and Design. At least 15 universities at home and abroad attended.
