D3 Telecommunication Engineering Introduces Optical Communication System to SMK UT PGII Students
BANDUNG-TEL U- D3 Telecommunication Engineering Telkom University held community service program; the introduction of Optical Communication System in Telkom Engineering School on Monday, December 23rd, 2013. The participants are students coming from Access Network Engineering major, SMK UT PGII.
Optical fiber communication system is a communication system which uses optical fiber cable as its transmission media. It is different from other optical fiber transmission media; it can transfer bigger capacity of information in high level of reliability. The lecture was guided by Faculty of Engineering, Telkom University lecturers; Hasanah Putri, Refri Suharsono, Yuyun Siti, Deni Darlis, Afief Dias, Erna Sri Sugesti and Ahmad Hambali.
The participants did not only attend the lecture, but also were trained how to link the optical fiber cable by using fusion splicer, how to measure using Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, as well as to measure the lost power due to the bending of the optical fiber.
