BANDUNG, Telkom University – The National Student Exhibition for Technology, Information and Communication (GEMASTIK) was held again for the 14th time. This year, the implementation of GEMASTIK must again be carried out online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
GEMASTIK is an annual event that has been held since 2007 and is a program of the National Achievement Center (PUSPRESNAS), Ministry of Education and Culture. This activity is expected to be an event to unite the vision, mission, and work of Indonesian students in developing technology, information, and digital communication at the national level.
This year, Telkom University is again trusted to host the largest ICT show in Indonesia, where Telkom University has hosted this event 5 times, namely in 2008-2009 and 2019-2021.
This year, GEMASTIK XIV carries the theme “TIK Untuk Indonesia Bangkit Menuju Kehidupan Bangsa Yang Lebih Baik”
The chief executive of GEMATIK XIV, Dr. Dida Diah Damajanti, at the opening of GEMASTIK XIV which took place Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in the Telkom University Manterawu Building Hall, reported that this year the number of GEMASTIK XIV participants reached 3,164 teams for 11 competition categories, where all teams came from 235 universities spread across in 33 provinces in Indonesia.
“We need to say that in the 14th Gemastik event, all divisions carried out 1 selection stage and 2 categories, namely the Programming and Cyber ??Security Division, conducted an online selection stage. From the results of the selection process carried out by the judges, 230 teams have been selected from 67 universities and 60 universities including those from outside West Java spread across 16 provinces.” Obviously.
Dida said that the finalists of Gemastik XIV came from the westernmost tip of Indonesia, namely Syiah Kuala University from the Province of the Special Region of Aceh, and the finalists from the easternmost tip of Indonesia were Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic from South Sulawesi Province.
“Congratulations on competing with all GEMASTIK XIV participants, hopefully, this competition can give birth to new ideas and innovations that can bring Indonesia into a developed country in the future,” he said.
Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Adiwijaya in his speech explained that although this year’s GEMASTIK competition is different, hopefully, it will not dampen the spirit of competition among the participants, and together they can produce the best innovations for the progress of the Indonesian nation.
“We hope that from this competition, new ideas will emerge, fresh ideas that can revive our spirit to continue to fight and get through this pandemic period so that going forward through communication information technology we can produce superior human resources and bring Indonesia forward in 2045.” Strictly speaking.
Prof. Adiwijaya welcomes all participants, all the jury, and university leaders from universities participating in this competition, and thanks PUSPRESNAS for entrusting Tel-U to be the host for the 5th time.
“Welcome to all participants, and the jury at the GEMASTIK XIV event, hopefully, each branch and division of the competition can produce the most efficient and effective solutions, stay enthusiastic and enthusiastic even in the Covid-19 pandemic to continue to produce works and channel the spirit of innovation in the development of information and communication technology for the progress of Indonesia,” he said.
