BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) held a webinar titled Digital Financial Literacy 2021, which took place online on Tuesday (28/9).
The theme is How to be Financial Literate: an Eye-Opener for New Generation. This event invites the entire academic community of Telkom University, especially students, to increase literacy in digital finance.
According to the Head of OJK Regional 2 West Java, Indarto Budiwitono, the growth of Fintech (Financial Technology) has indeed become a daily necessity, because it has penetrated all lines of society. Various financial transactions have been carried out digitally or cashless, both shopping for daily needs in the market, transportation tools, and educational needs.
“Based on a survey conducted by OJK in 2019, the digital financial literacy rate has only reached 36%, meaning that out of 100 people only 36 people understand digital finance, therefore through this activity we want the Indonesian people to need an understanding of how to use digital finance. .” he said.
Deputy Commissioner of the OJK Institute and Digital Finance, Imansyah, explained that the development of digitalization in various fields is a shared focus, especially in the process of digitizing finance. In the last 5 years, the development of digital finance in Indonesia has grown rapidly.
“This number of digital payments, whether in the form of digital banks, online loans, or other fintech, really helps the community in carrying out financial activities, therefore we (OJK) want to improve financial literacy in various ways, including creating a digital finance curriculum for students, then increase the OJK fintech center or commonly known as OJK Infinity.โ Obviously.
Furthermore, Imansyah said that to improve literacy in digital finance, OJK together with Telkom University carried out socialization about understanding digital finance, this activity was to improve digital financial literacy for students and the wider community in general.
“At this event, apart from providing education related to digital financial services, we want to grow digital talent which will focus on digital finance in the future,” he said.
Imansyah expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Telkom University for being willing to cooperate with OJK to realize the OJK program to provide an understanding of digital finance.
“We hope that this collaboration will continue in various fields, and we hope that in the future more Telkom University students will take part in the staff education program at OJK, as has been done before,” he said.
Vice-Rector I for Academic Affairs at Telkom University, Dr. Dadan Rahadian said that what OJK is doing to foster understanding of digital finance needs to be understood by all academics because along with increasing technological developments coupled with the current pandemic conditions, people continue to take advantage of digital financial transactions.
“We are very happy that OJK can work together with Tel-U to provide an understanding of digital finance, therefore this digital literacy needs to be understood by all academics, especially students to be wiser in using digital finance,” he said.
In addition to presenting Imansyah as Keynote Speaker, there were also presentations from 3 speakers, namely Umi Kawiryani Tjiptoningsih as Analyst of Digital Financial Innovation Group, Marthina Natalyna (Director of Legal, Compliance & Governmental Relations Cekaja.com and Ceksor), and Dr. Farida Titik Kristanti who is Deputy Dean II of the School of Economics and Business at Telkom University.
