The School of Creative Industries Telkom University again held an annual routine event, namely Swastamita 2022, which was held at the Hilton Hotel Bandung on Saturday (24/9). This year, Swastamita raised the theme “Digital Escapism,” which presented 63 final project works and 89 studio works, in addition to presenting exhibitions and a bazaar showcase.
Swastamita is a series of annual work exhibitions and fashion shows that contain a collection of works by students of the Craft S1 study program. The various results on display show the process of developing ideas. So, they can produce a masterpiece and show the diverse creativity and character of the owners of these works, which can not be separated from various environmental influences and habits as the Indonesian nation can adapt to the times and times.
This year SWASTAMITA carries the theme of Digital Escapism as the trend forecast for 2023. With increasing time spent on internet-based applications and recreation, there is now a new trend of digital escape and personal space in cyberspace. When we talk about escapism, sometimes it brings guilt to mind. Excessive internet usage causes “Internet Addiction,” primarily for pleasure. It leads to psychological disorders. It creates “Digital Escapism,” which invites stress, depression, deviation from one’s goals, sleeplessness, and anxiety. This concept carries the gravity of the addiction and the nature and type of digital escape. This paper observes that addicted users will always be happy to live online and leave reality.
Dean of the Schoolof Creative Industries (FIK), Dr. Roro Retno Wulan, expressed her gratitude and hopes that next year SWASTAMITA, the flagship event of FIK, can be escalated not only at the national level but also at the international level.
