BANDUNG, TEL-U – Rector of Telkom University (Tel-U), Prof. Ir Mochamad Ashari, M Eng, Ph D said that the essence of state defense has long been applied in Tel-U even though the material is not exactly the same as a program to defend the country launched by Minister of Defense. One of materials provided to the students was the cooperation with National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on prevention of drug use, in campus area.
“This concept already apllied to lecturer and students. For example, on students orientation event, they introduced to nationalism and national defense for three days. Similarly, the lecturer and staff also participate in mental training program or Bintal for one week at Officer Candidate School (Scapa) in Hegarmanah, “he said.
This statement conveyed by rector to reporters after attended a General Lecture (Studium Generale) from Minister of Defense, Gen. (ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu infront of more than 1,000 students. Themed “The National Insight and State Defense for Intellectual Successor” , this general lecture was held in the Auditorium 4th Floor Selaru Building Faculty of Applied Sciences Telkom University (Tel-U), Monday (7/12).
According to Ryamizard, this plan should be realized due to defend the state is an important program to restore Pancasila as the nation’s ideology. “Since Orde Baru- New Order did not exist, Pancasila as occurs sunk and filled with radicalism,” he said.
Rector agreed that state defense started from the society. “For next twenty years, these students who will take over the leadership in this country, therefore their love and sense of belonging of Indonesia must be nurtured from an early age,” he said. (Purel / raf)
