Telkom University and the Indonesian Mining Industry (MIND ID) signed the MoU on Monday (7/3). Through this collaboration, the two institutions will focus on developing technological innovations in mining and mineral and coal-based industries, including national electric car research collaborations and studies on digitalization and the use of technology inefficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable mining operations.
MIND ID’s Director of Institutional Relations, Dany Amrul Ichdan, said that Tel-U has excellent criteria to help develop the mining industry in the future, namely Research and Innovation. In addition, MIND ID is also interested in learning about electric car innovations at Tel-U.
“The campus criteria that MIND ID wants are at Tel-U, focusing on Research and Innovation. We need these two things in the mining sector and the development of electric cars. In the future, we can collaborate on research related to electric cars to be implemented at the Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC),” said Umar.
In addition to the national electric car research collaboration, other collaborations include the implementation of human resource development which is carried out through, among others, education, training, certification, work practices, and learning for the development of specific competencies in the mining and mineral and coal-based industries.
Then together, they carry out coaching, mentoring, and development of the fostered MSEs, which include, among others, training, application of digitalization, business incubation, and other activities to support the MSEs program promoted to grade.
The Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya, welcomes this collaboration. According to him, Tel-U has long conducted various research relevant to the points of cooperation. According to him, the presence of MIND ID is an opportunity for Tel-U to have a broader impact.
“Universities should carry out all forms of research, and then we will implement them in the field (MIND ID). Contributing to the nation will be better if it is accompanied by broad collaboration. Regarding electric cars, we have made several. God willing, through this collaboration, we can provide benefits not only for the two institutions but also for the nation.”
