BANDUNG, Telkom University โ The implementation of cross-faculty community service carried out by Telkom University (Tel-U) this time involved the Faculty of Communication and Business (FKB), the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FIT), and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), as well as several students.
The community service activity led by Taufan Umbara from FKB with members Aris Hartaman from FIT and Gina Goniah from FEB was carried out with Karang Taruna Sukapura and Citeureup Villages on Thursday 30 June 2022.
The activity is integrated waste management training to practically disseminate simple waste processing techniques that can be applied to traders around the campus managed by Karang Taruna Sukapura and Citeureup Villages.
Taufan explained that the background for holding this activity is in an integrated waste management system that at least combines approaches to reducing waste sources, recycling & reuse, composting, incineration, and landfilling.
“Efforts to reduce sources of household waste mean instilling us the habit of not being extravagant in the use of everyday items, besides that recycling and reuse is applied, especially for non-organic waste and for organic waste processed through composting.” he said.
Furthermore, Taufan hopes this activity can increase public awareness of the importance of integrated waste management.
“Hopefully this activity can provide benefits for the surrounding community, as well as learning for our students about how to solve problems that exist in the community.” he said.
The head of the Citeureup Village Youth Organization, Hendro N Sunandoro, expressed his gratitude to the Telkom University team for providing this training and hopes that there will be further activities that can touch all levels of society around the campus.
“This training is very useful, especially for empowering youth and the wider community in integrated waste management, we hope there will be follow-up activities where the ICT-based Integrated Waste Management Implementation program so that all waste can be monitored through a mobile phone application program or web page that can be monitored. by all interested parties.”
