BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University students and colleagues created an innovative tool to help people with disabilities, especially the deaf, to have access to facilities at tourist attractions. This application is called Deaf Walks (TJJ) and was included in the 2021 Youth Cultural Camp (KBKM) competition.
Interestingly, this application was developed by 5 Deaf Students with members Ghausu Silmi (Telkom University), Muhammad Ilham Faisal (Telkom University), Puji Raharjo (STMIK Bandung), Refina Nuraini Ultari (Indonesian Education University), and Hani Rahmawati (Islamic University of the Archipelago).
“This application has reportedly started to be developed since July 2021 while attending the KBKM class for two months, at that time the process was carried out online and offline.” according to Ghausu Silmi, one of the Deaf Street application development teams.
This application has been tested in the Cireundeu Traditional Village around the Cimahi city area, Cireundeu Village, on September 18, 2021.
The choice of location is because the tourist attractions are not well known and do not have special facilities for persons with disabilities. So that this TJJ application can help provide new experiences for people with disabilities to be used optimally.
“We thank the Ministry of Education and Culture, the KBKM, and our campus Telkom University for their support from proposal making to the final at the national level, the student body always provides input and assistance to sign language interpreters to produce quality research products.”
