BANDUNG, TEL-U – Megumi Nurul Aini, a Textile and Fashion Craft students from Faculty of Creative Industry Telkom University (FIK Tel-U) became one of the 10 young designers finalists at “Sakura Collection Asian Students Awards 2015” which was first held in Indonesia.
“Sakura Collection Asian Students Awards 2015 was an event of Japanese fashion design contest that aims to introduce and exchange the culture from participants country to Japanese culture” said Megumi.
The event was organized by Japanese Embassy and Japan Foundation in AEON Mall, BSD City Tangerang, on Sunday (17/1) followed by 125 fashion students throughout Indonesia, with 5 judges such as Mrs. Noriko Tabata (producer sakura collection), Mr. Tadashi Ogawa (Director General of The Japan Foundation Jakarta), Mr Taruna K Kusmayadi (Indonesian designer), Mr. Ahmad Soffiyulloh (Indonesian designer), and Mrs Dhining Trihandayani (Model).
Megumi’s Design Concept inspired by the ornaments installation worn by the Japanese people in Tanabata festival or festival of star. “The installation of lanterns with flowers surround and colorful decoration give the impression of full color, drop festive color title I take to tell the festive of Tanabata festival” she said.
In the middle of her final project preparation, Megumi prepared a concept sketch 3 days before the deadline on 30 November 2015. “Thank God on December 23, 2015 I was contacted by the Sakura Collection and was elected into the top 10 and required to realize those designs, “said Megumi.
According to Mrs. Noriko Tabata as Producer of Sakura Collection purpose of this event is to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between the designer and also as a venue for cultural exchange.
Megumi enjoy design since junior high and made her become 10 young designers in Indonesia, “Hopefully in the future I can be known as a designer with qualified work and accepted by the entire society,” she said. (purel / AW)
