BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University Choir succeeded in bringing a magnificent performance at the national level choir competition entitled Maranatha Virtual Choir Festival 2021 held by Maranatha Christian University. Thanks to this spectacular performance, Telkom University Choir obtained a proud achievement. This competition will be held virtually on 27-30 May 2021 on the Maranatha Christian University Choir Youtube channel.
In this competition, there were 18 participating universities/public choirs from various cities in Indonesia, namely: Central Java, West Java, East Java, DKI Jakarta, DI Yogyakarta, North Sulawesi, Bali, and North Sumatra. The competition was attended by Agastya Rama Listya (Indonesia), Anna Tabita Abeleda Piquero (Phillipines), Aning Katamsi (Indonesia), Budi Susanto Yohanes (Indonesia), Agustinus Bambang Jusana (Indonesia), as well as a popular and award-winning Indonesian singer, Isyana Sarasvati as jury. In this competition, Telkom University Choir brought 38 singers under the guidance of conductor Aldo Randy Ginting.
In this competition, Telkom University Choir participated in category 3 (University/General Choir) and performed a song composed by Michael Ostrzyga (Germany), namely Iuppiter. The theme of this song is about the god Iuppiter who is the ancient Greek god of the sky and thunderbolt. By performing the song, Telkom University Choir won 2nd Place and Gold Medal with a score of 86.75, besides that Telkom University Choir also won Special Jury Awards, namely Best Performance (Audio & Visual) and Most Viewed Video with 12587 views.
