BANDUNG, Telkom University โ Telkom University Choir managed to bring a performance with a unique concept at an international choral competition titled 2021 Busan Choral Festival & Competition โ Busan, Korea. Thanks to this attractive appearance, Telkom University Choir obtained a proud achievement. This competition was held virtually on October 21, 2021, on the BusanChoral Youtube channel.
In this competition, there were 13 choirs from 5 different countries, namely: Indonesia, South Korea, the Philippines, China, and Malaysia. The competition was attended by Anton Armstrong (United States), Soon-Jung Kim (South Korea), Yu-Chung John Ku (Taiwan), Ki-Sun Lee (South Korea), Zoltรกn Pad (Hungary) as judges and choir experts. In this competition, Telkom University Choir brought 59 singers under the guidance of conductor Aldo Randy Ginting.
In this competition, Telkom University Choir follows two categories, namely Category A Capella (Classic Style) and Category With Instrumental Accompaniment. In this competition, for the With Instrumental Accompaniment category, the Telkom University Choir performed a German song, Robert Schumann (Germany), who was one of the best composers in the Romantic era, namely Zigeunerleben. This song tells about a group of gypsies in the jungles of southern Spain and the Nile. In addition, for the A Capella (Classic Style) category, the Telkom University Choir performed a song composed by Michael Ostrzyga (Germany), namely Iuppiter, the theme of this song is about the god Iuppiter who is the god of the sky and lightning protector of ancient Greece. By performing these songs, Telkom University Choir won the 1st Place โ Gold Prize (Acapella), 1st Place โ Gold Prize (With Instrumental Accompaniment), and also the Special Prize (Best Video Editing).
