BANDUNG, Telkom University – Again, Telkom University Choir achieved a proud achievement in an international choir competition entitled Pesparawi National Student XVI 2020. This event was held on 2-7 November 2020 online on the official youtube of Tarumanagara University, and this is the first time Telkom University Choir has participated in the Pesparawi competition National Student XVI 2020.
This competition was attended by 51 choirs from various universities in Indonesia and will be judged by 7 judges, namely Dr. AG. Sudibyo, M.Sc., Irianto Pratama Setyawan, Martin Tupanno, Arief Setyoso Kusdarmanto, Monica Hwang Hwa-Sook, Ester Gunawan, and Perry Rumengan. Telkom University Choir competed by bringing in 26 singers under the direction of Music Director Aldo Randy Ginting. Telkom University Choir participated in the Musica Sacra category by presenting Agnus Dei arr. Perry Rumengan and the song of choice Dies Irae arr. Ken Stiven.
In the XVI National Student Pesparawi competition 2020, Telkom University Choir crowned as second place and entered the top 10 best participants along with Petra Christian University, Yogyakarta State University, Atmajaya University Jakarta, Atmajaya University Yogyakarta, HKBP Nomensen Medan, Brawijaya University, State University Surakarta, University of Indonesia, and Palangkaraya University.
“The competition this time is a virtual competition where all preparations are done virtually. The singers are spread across 16 cities from all over Indonesia and practiced virtually through zoom. They do audio and video recordings from their respective homes and this is a valuable experience that we feel. ” Said Rifaldo as the Leader of the Competition Team.
After being successful in the XVI National Student Pesparawi competition 2020, Telkom University Choir will hold the 5th Annual Concert 2020 which will be held virtually on November 13, 2020, through the official youtube Telkom University Choir. The concert this time invited Indonesian and foreign choirs to collaborate such as the Alumni of Telkom University Choir (Indonesia), Gratia Choir Unika Soegijapranata (Indonesia), Rhapsody Choir (Taiwan), and Szczygielki Grandi (Poland).
