As a form of dedication to the Tridharma of Higher Education, Telkom University, in collaboration with the Telkom Bandung Tourism Vocational School, carried out the ‘Digital Marketing Assistance for PPDB Telkom School 2022’ from January to March 2022. This event collaborates between the Faculty of Communication & Business, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and the Faculty of Economics. & Business as a form of Community Service. This month’s meeting was held on March 10 and March 14, 2022, with the theme “Copywriting” delivered by a representative lecturer from the organizing faculty and attended by 18 participants who are lecturers from the Telkom Bandung Tourism Vocational School.
Sri Widaningsih delivered the first material, S.Psi, M.M as a lecturer from the D3 Marketing Management program on Thursday (10/03) offline, which raised the topic ‘Copywriting in the Context of Sales and Sales.’ This material explains what elements of Writing are needed to increase interest in buying and selling products or services.
“In advertising, it is not enough just to be motivated to look attractive or good. But, does it move other people to buy? Don’t forget the essence of selling, which is to sell the product,” said Sri while interacting with the participants.
The second and third sessions will be continued on Monday, March 14, 2022, via Zoom Meeting. The second material was filled in by Ms. Sylvie Nurfebiaraning, M.Si as a lecturer from the S1 Communication Science program. The speaker discussed ‘Application of Attractive Copywriting Strategies’ in this session. The speaker explained the importance of understanding the communication process, the purpose, and flow of copywriting, to an effective copywriting strategy. The presenters conducted an evaluation involving participants on promotional posts on the @smkpartelbdg Instagram page to complete the training process.
After two materials that discussed Copywriting in terms of Writing, the last material discussed it from a Visual perspective, namely ‘Copywriting Strategies in Visual Messages,’ delivered by Freddy Yusanto, M.Ds who is also an undergraduate lecturer in Communication Studies.
“Visual is a person’s First Impression of what is seen, and it lasts longer in human memory,” said Freddy.
Providing informational focus or “Point of Interest” is the key to getting the audience’s attention. In addition to providing examples of posters and interacting like the two previous presenters, the presenters also explained Color Choice, Composition, and Supporting Elements, namely Visual and Perceptual Visual Elements and Perceptual Elements as the main points besides the writing element.
The event closed with a group photo session. As for feedback from one of the participants, “Alhamdulillah, I have gained much knowledge,” said Mrs. Mira Purnama Sari, M.Pd. A Prize Quiz session also enlivened not only that but this event at each material presentation session which increased the participants’ enthusiasm to stay involved in the discussion. The student’s participation in this event is also a form of active participation in holding the Tridharma of Higher Education. This event will continue on a schedule that will be announced later.
