BANDUNG, Telkom University – As a private university (PTS) that has won a lot of international accreditation, Telkom University together with APTIKOM (Indonesian Computer Science Higher Education Association) and IABEE (Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) organized ย IABEE International Accreditation Workshop for Computing Disciplines which was attended by no less than 65 participants from all universities in Indonesia.
The event which was held on Thursday (29/11) at El Royale Hotel Bandung, was opened by Rector of Telkom University Prof. Adiwijaya. In his speech Prof. Adiwijaya said that accreditation is important as a guarantee to the steak holders.
“The accreditation of study programs and institutions is a guarantee that the graduates we give to the community both in industry and the government are qualified graduates, especially if they achieve international accreditation, meaning that the graduates we give are world quality graduates,” he said.
In line with Prof. Adiwijaya, chairman of the IABEE Prof. Misri Gozan said that the accreditation process that took place at Higher Education Institutions would make the higher education institutions undertake improvements.
“The benefit of accreditation is to make study programs and higher education institutions continue to improve every year, and there will always be an evaluation,” he said.
In this activity there was also a sharing about procedures in IABEE accreditation process by Dr. Prihandoko who is an IABEE evaluator and a discussion about IABEE accreditation assessment criteria by Dr. Ayu Purwarianti who is also an IABEE evaluator.
2 Telkom University Study Programs that have received IABEE accreditation are Telecommunication Engineering S1 (S1 TT) and Industrial Engineering S1 (IT TI), currently there are 2 more Study Programs being proposed to receive IABEE accreditation namely S1 Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Informatics and S1 Information System of Industrial Engineering Faculty.
The two study programs have undergone visitations, and in this forum Said Al Faraby, who at that time served as Head of Informatics Engineering Study Program and Dr. Tien Fabrianti (Head of S1 Information Systems Study Program) shared experiences with participants about IABEE accreditation.
