BANDUNG, TEL-U – Two years already, Telkom University (Tel-U) contribute to the nation through tri dharma. Having previously an amalgamation of four different institution, Telkom Institute of Technology, Telkom Institute of Management, STISI Telkom and Telkom Polytechnic.
“It is a struggle that is not easy at the beginning of its formation, but Telkom University has succeeded through. Tel-U first year focus on structuring management and in the second year, the Tel-U focuses on resource development, “said Rector Telkom University (Tel-U) Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M. Eng., Ph.D., at the Two Years Reflection of Telkom University in Multimedia Room Bangkit Building, Wednesday (5/8).
According to Rector, the development of Telkom University resources include academic development, strengthening research and achievement of accreditation and certification. Rector targets in the year 2018 Tel-U had professors as much as 10 percent and S3 educated lecturers by 30 per cent of the total number of lecturers at Tel-U. Rector also targeted in 2018 Tel-U ranks as 200 world rankings.
Similar with Rector, Chairman of Telkom Foundation Ir. Dwi.S. Purnomo, MM revealed not all mergers institutions can run smoothly. Based on statistical data, amounted to 70 percent of an institution in Indonesia conducting mergers fail.
“When merge the four institutions into Telkom University, Telkom Foundation when it was faced with a huge risk. Each institution has a different organizational culture. This is certainly a challenge for the foundation. But Alhamdulillah, we can through the crisis period, “said Dwi.
Dwi grateful, now Telkom University incised many achievements and awards. In any competition Tel-U never go home with empty-handed, always bring achievement. “The merger should be able to produce more scientific so that it can contribute more leverage,” he said. (Purel / risca)
