Bandung, Telkom University – Tel-U held an online International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) Info Session on Wednesday (11/01). This socialization aims to encourage and increase the participation of Tel-U students in the IISMA program. This was disclosed at Tel-U by the Director of Strategic Partnership and International Office (SPIO), Lia Yuldinawati, Ph.D.
“Since 2021, there have been 20 Tel-U students receiving IISMA scholarships, including 17 students pursuing bachelor’s degrees and 3 students pursuing vocational programs. They are spread across campuses in England, Ireland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, The United States, Canada, Germany, Lithuania, and Taiwan. In 2023, hopefully, more Tel-U students will participate and be qualified to become IISMA scholarship awardee,” said Lia.
Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) is a scholarship offered by the government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to Indonesian students in order to facilitate one semester of study at world-class universities. IISMA is also a component of the Emancipated Learning Program (MBKM).
Future global challenges, such as the rise of job automation in Industry 4.0, internationalization, and emancipated learning, are the motivation for the establishment of the IISMA program. It is expected that the current profile of graduates gets the opportunity to become global citizens with competitive and international standard skills.
Dr. Eng. Ir. R. Rachmat A. Sriwijaya, S.T., M.T., the head of the IISMA Work Program, was the keynote speaker who has provided in-depth information about the program. According to him, the awardees of IISMA grants will obtain a variety of benefits.
According to Rahmat, “Students have the opportunity to select classes that speak to their individual interests, get more familiar with the traditions of different nations, strengthen international ties, and improve their ability to compete. These advantages can serve as a provision for graduates seeking to become members of the global citizen.”
Affif Muhammad Dzaky (awardee of IISMA 2022) and Febry Mahendra Pratama (awardee of IISMAVO 2022), Tel-U student representatives who have successfully passed and become IISMA Awardees, were also there to share their experiences during their brief study abroad with the attendees. It is expected that this will inspire the attendees (Tel-U students) to take part in the IISMA program.
