36 Artists Showcase Their Works at Gallery Idealoka

BANDUNG, Telkom University โ€“ Telkom University School of Creative Industries (FIK Tel-U) again held the 2nd Immediacy of Image Exhibition: The Unmoving, with the theme “Still Images within Contemporary Culture”.

This art exhibition takes place virtually and can be enjoyed by the entire community by visiting the Idealoka Virtual Gallery through the idealokagallery.telkomuniversity.ac.id page.

A total of 36 artists participated in a virtual display of their work at this event. According to the Director of the Gallery, Patra Aditia, an FIK lecturer. The 36 artists, apart from being from Tel-U, were also from abroad, including Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan.

“In addition, professional artists from Japan and Taiwan also exhibit their works here,” said Patra.

According to Patra, this international exhibition which was held virtually aims to show the ways that artists take in processing silent images to voice their thoughts on an issue.

“In this exhibition, we can see that still images present not only what is visible at the visually level, but also show various dynamics, complexities, and ‘inequalities’ that occur in the human body at its deepest layers.”

Dean of FIK Dr. Roro Retno Wulan explained that current technological advances have given access to the production of moving, simulated, or even virtual images. Nevertheless, still, images remain distributed in prevalence, interestingly, still, images in the form of images or photos remain prevalent even though they are present in various formats.

“Through this exhibition, we want to provide a platform for world artists, that in the current pandemic conditions we want gymnasts to continue to be creative and provide their artworks so that it can be a learning method for students,” said Dr. Roro during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Immediacy of Image Exhibition: The Unmoving 2021, virtually Friday (27/8).

In addition to the virtual exhibition, this series of events will also include 3 Art Talk events which will take place on:

Art Talk I: September 2, 2021, with the speaker’s Vincent Albert Rumahloine and Jim Allen Abel, with the topic Idiomatic of The Still Image.

Art Talk II: September 13, 2021, with speakers Henrycus Napitsunargo and Sandy Jaya Putra, with the topic Contemporary Photography in Today’s Context.

Art Talk III : September 16, 2021 with Prof. Dr. Setiawan Sabana and Dr. Moh Isa Pramana Koesoemadinata, with the topic The Still and The Spiritual.
