Bandung, Telkom University – Telkom University as No.1 Private University in Indonesia continues to create diverse creative works. One of them is the 2020 Swastamita event.
Swastamita is an annual event for the Undergraduate Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program as well as the event that ends the management of the SERAT Student Association. This Swastamita attended by participants of the 2020 final project and third and fourth level students.
Swastamita is organized as a publication medium for the best works of students from the Undergraduate Textile and Fashion Craft study program. The works displayed are in the form of clothing, accessories, surface, and structure design textiles, and fabric arts.
Carrying the theme Past and Beyond, fashion can be a popular aesthetic expression at a certain place and time, with the specific context of Past and Beyond bringing a sense of nostalgia with a modern order. Bringing viewers to reflect on the elements of Indonesian tradition in material, technique, and motif.
Different from the previous year, this year Swastamita was held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Swastamita 2020 consists of three series of events, namely virtual exhibition, virtual fashion show, and creative talks.
Citra Puspitasari as the Executive Coordinator of the 2020 Swastamita event explained that this year was the third year that Swastamita was held. For the good cooperation of the lecturer committee and friends of the SERAT Student Association and other parties who contributed, this event was finally able to be held.
“We have been preparing for the event since the beginning of the year with the concept of an onsite exhibition and fashion show. The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic made the concept turn virtual. Alhamdulillah, the committee is still very enthusiastic about making it happen. Since last August we started with a pre-event and this October is scheduled to start exhibiting virtually. This activity is one of the best steps for us to participate in advancing Indonesia’s creative industry, “he said.
The event was opened on Tuesday (13/10) via Zoom and broadcast live on YouTube. The 2020 Swastamita Opening Ceremony was attended by 600 participants from various backgrounds, including academics, creative industry, local brand startups, and Foundation leaders to international admissions such as UiTM Perak Malaysia.
Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya as the Chancellor of Telkom University gave his appreciation to graduates of the 2020 Undergraduate Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program who gave their best works at this event.
“Continue to provide color, creativity. Continue to be productive in your work, Insha Allah, these results will be very useful and will provide inspiration and contribution towards advanced Indonesia, “he said.
This 2020 Swastamita featured 112 final assignments from undergraduate craft students and was held from October 13 to November 3, 2020. This event can be accessed through the website swastamita-bcaf.telkomuniversity.ac.id.
