QATAR, Telkom University – Esra Selvia, alumni of the Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Study Program in 2001, became part of the biggest football party in the world (World Cup 2022). In this performance, Esra was one of 2 Indonesian representatives who appeared at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Quoting from bola.kompas.com, Esra said that he was very enthusiastic when he learned about the registration for the volunteer opening and ceremony for the 2022 World Cup.
“After registering and going through a series of selections starting from interviews, we were asked to dance following their choreographer. It was from that selection that I was selected. They only choose who is used to performing on stage,” said Esra.
After being selected, Esra won the role of one of the dancers performing the flag choreography from 32 countries participating in the 2022 World Cup and forced himself to practice 10 times regularly to memorize every move.
“We rehearsed 10 times to perform in less than five minutes during the opening ceremony by showing the choreos from 32 participating countries. When I appeared, I was wearing a Star Wars wardrobe and holding a lightsaber, featuring choreos from several countries participating in the 2022 World Cup,” said Esra.
Esra Selvia is a 2001 Industrial Engineering undergraduate student at Telkom University (formerly STT Telkom) and graduated in 2005, currently, Esra lives in Qatar since 10 years ago.
