BANDUNG, TEL-U –ย National scale softball tournament that was held by Riverside Tel-U student unit activity was officially closed on Sunday (4/5). It was held for 10 days. In this tournament, Tel-U softball team came third after Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) and Indonesia University of Education (UPI).
Located on GOR Lodaya Bandung, there were 12 teams nationwide joined the tournament. They were competing to won the Tel-U periodic rector cup. The tournament was divided into two categories: the men and the women. For each category, there are first, second, third winner and the best player.
On the menโs category, Indonesia University of Education (UPI) was the champion. The runner up was Bandung Islamic University (UNISBA) whereas GadjahMada University (UGM) came third. On the womenโs category, the champion was UNISBA. UPI and Telkom University came second and third, respectively.
The best player award is also achieved by the player from each team. The best player award is yet to be divided into several categories: The best hitter, the best slugger, the best pitcher, most RBI, golden glove and MVP. RiaYuliana, Tel-U player got the golden glove award for the womenโs category. Each winner, both team and the individual, got prize money, trophy, medals and certificate.
The cash prizes for each winner are as follow: First winner Rp 5.000.000, second winner Rp 3.500.000, third winner Rp 2.500.000 and the best player got Rp 250.000
AgityaFajar, 2010 information systems student who happened to be the convener of 2014 Telkom University Cup, said that this national scaled tournament is held for fifth time, consecutively since 2010. Besides that, this tournament is the routine tournament agenda held by Perbasasi Bandung.
โWe got appreciation from the Perbasasi to actually organize this as a routine tournament because we are frequently organizing one. Having held a nationwide scale tournament since 2010, I hope it could be extended to the international level in the next couople of years.โ Says Agit optimistically. He wishes that this tournament earn its betterment for the next one and the universities should maintain their relationship.
The closing ceremony was held with the agenda of awarding the prize and modern dance from SMAN 11 Bandung. The MC of the ceremony was Wawan Anwar, the Director for Student Affair who represents Rector and IV vice Rector Telkom University. On his speech, Wawan was appreciating the committee of 2014 Telkom University cup who successfully held the national scale softball tournament.
He said that the winner should not be arrogant and keep working on their creativity. โFor the winning team do not get cocky and for the losing team you should keep your spirit. The most important things are actualizing your maximum effort and fairness in sportโ he says.
Closing the ceremony officially, Wawan Anwar who acted as a hitter, hit the softball who was thrown by AgityaFajar. Congratulations for the winner. (Kompro/DH)
