Telkom University, 31 Years and Growing Stronger to Contribute to the Nation

Telkom University, BANDUNG โ€“Starting from the noble ideals of Cacuk Sudarijanto as the President Director of PT. Telkom Indonesia at that time, who wanted to bring PT. Telkom Indonesia is a company that can provide the best service, one of which is in the management of Human Resources (HR). Bringing Cacuk Sudarijanto to establish an educational institution called the Telkom College of Technology (STT Telkom) and the Bandung MBA on September 28, 1990, which was the forerunner to the establishment of Telkom University.

In 2007, at the initiation of the collaboration between NTC (National Institute of Information Technology, India & Telkom Center) and Professional Program STT Telkom formed a quality vocational education institution called Telkom Polytechnic. Telkom Polytechnic is here with a mission to contribute to the Indonesian nation and the world community by producing graduates who have international insight and can compete globally.

In addition, to complement other scientific fields besides IT and Management, the Telkom Education Foundation also presents the Telkom Indonesian College of Art and Design (STISI Telkom), which has been established since 1990 under the name of the Indonesian College of Fine Arts and Design (STISI). STISI Telkom joined as part of one of the educational institutions under the auspices of the Telkom Education Foundation in 2010.

From the dreams and hopes that have been lived by four educational institutions under the auspices of the Telkom Education Foundation (YPT) which have contributed a lot to Indonesia, then to realize a bigger dream, the Telkom Education Foundation presents Telkom University. Telkom University is a merger of IT Telkom, IM Telkom, STISI Telkom, and Telkom Polytechnic which was inaugurated on August 14, 2013, by the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Noah, DEA.

Entering the 31st year of the Telkom campus, Telkom University (Tel-U) will continue to provide the best for the nation. At the peak celebration of Telkom University’s anniversary which carries the theme “Making New Normal a Better Future A Sustainable Response through Digital Innovation”, Telkom University will continue to be committed to providing the best for the nation in realizing Human Resources for Advanced Indonesia.

Telkom University has the vision to become a Research and Entrepreneurial University in 2023 that actively involves the development of science and art technology based on information technology. Currently, Telkom University has more than 50,000 alumni (since 1990) spread across various countries. One of the things that makes Telkom University a superior university is the existence of Telkom University alumni who have proven expertise in various fields.

Until now, Tel-U as an educational institution has always been committed to providing the best education for Indonesia’s young generation. As the best private university in Indonesia, Telkom University has achieved Excellent Accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and has 61% or 24 Study Programs accredited Superior & A from 40 Study Programs owned. At the international level, 19 study programs have also received accreditation, including from IABEE (Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education), ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Colleges), and ABEST-21 (The Alliance Board for Engineering Education).

Currently, Telkom University has successfully entered the ranking of the top 451 universities in Asia according to the QS AUR version and received 5 Stars for Teaching, Employability, Development, Facilities, Inclusiveness, Online Learning, and Program strength: Bachelor of Informatics. And Overall won 4 Stars University in the QS Stars Rating System.

Tel-U is also included in the Top 10 best universities in Indonesia according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and is ranked in the world’s top 500 in the Emerging Economies University category. Specifically for the field of Computer Science, Tel-U was ranked 4th and ranked 6th for the field of Engineering from the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, for all universities in Indonesia. And this year Telkom University has just obtained the SDGs Impact ranking in the Affordable & Clean Energy category, we are ranked #18 in the World and our Clean Water & Sanitation Category is ranked #7 in the World.

Rector of Telkom University Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya said that this anniversary commemoration is a reminder for Telkom University to always introspect, maintain achievements, maintain a balance of roles in society, and continue to improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia.

“Congratulations to all academics on the Telkom University Anniversary celebration, and congratulations on all the achievements, according to him, all achievements and qualities given by Telkom University are a form of Tel-U’s commitment to continue to contribute to the progress of the Indonesian nation,” he said.

Thanks also Prof. Adiwijaya conveyed to all alumni, stakeholders, and all levels of society for their support, so that Telkom University can continue to produce superior generations of the nation.
