BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University (Tel-U) as the no.1 best private university (PTS) in Indonesia, accomplished a brilliant achievement at the age of 7. This time, through the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings page, Telkom University break in the world’s best universities and included in the 9 best universities in Indonesia with 8 State Universities (PTN).
THE World University Rankings is a globally recognized ranking institution and one of the top-ranking providers for quality assessment of institutions worldwide. In THE World University Rankings 2021, 1,500 universities from 93 countries and territories are included in the ranking, making THE as the largest rankings and the most diverse university to date.
THE World University Rankings routinely releases rankings of the best universities in the world with 5 assessment indicators such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, citations to the international outlook, and others.
From these indicators, Telkom University managed to achieve the highest score on the citation indicator (Citations) and placed Tel-U as the best Indonesian university according to the Times Higher Education version of the Score-Category citations in Indonesia.
In the citations indicator, the assessment is carried out by measuring the role of the university in disseminating new knowledge and ideas. Where THE counts the number of times the institution’s work is cited by scholars globally. This year THE examined more than 86 million citations for 13.6 million journal articles, article reviews, conference proceedings, books, and book chapters published over the past five years. The data includes more than 24,000 academic journals indexed by Scopus Elsevier and all publications indexed between 2015 and 2019, and citations (citations) taken are made over a period of 6 years from 2015 to 2020.
Overall, in the ranking of THE World University Rankings this time, Telkom University is included in the nine best universities in Indonesia according to THE World University Rankings, and still holds the title Number 1 PTS in Indonesia.
The Rector of Telkom University Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya congratulated Telkom University on the achievements. According to him, this was the result of hard work and smart work from Telkom University academics as well as contributions from alumni and all stakeholders.
