Telkom University Crowned as Champion at the World Health Technology Competition

Bandung, Telkom University – (23/8/17). The collaborative achievement between researchers and students of Telkom University continues to grow. In the Converence 2017 entitled Telemedicine Telemedicine Innovation Challenge (TIC), at Monash University Malaysia. TIC is intended to provide a platform for innovators from both industry and university to demonstrate their innovation in health. This activity has entered the third year with participants from several countries in ASEAN. Telkom University, with Dr. Satria Mandala, managed to enter the final on the event through 2 teams, namely: KnocKnock and Rhythm.

Knocknock team led by Nur Januar Triandy Elsan, with members of Muhammad Hilmy An Nabahani, Asya Leztizia, the Supreme Cahya Inspire, Qhansa Di’Ayu Princess Bayu, Mochamad Agusta Naofal Judge, and Faisal Rahman featuring “To-Do Diet”. Husnayain Ihda Rhythm team commanded by members Bayu Rizky Ramadhan, Fiona Ramadhani Senduk, Abdul Rahman Safari and Dani Agung Prastiyo bring the prototype of the “PVC’s monitoring and detection system” at the event. Both teams are students across the Faculty, Informatics and Creative Industries.

The KnocKnock team created the “To-Do Diet” project, a kinect-based system for obesity therapy that aims to monitor patients and motivate patients to do obesity diet therapy. Rhythm team make a project “PVC’s monitoring and detection system”, namely a system for monitoring and detecting abnormal heartbeat rhythm type PVC / Premature ventricular contractions. PVC is one type of arrhythmia that can cause sudden death if left alone.

The TIC final event lasts for 3 days, which is August 15-17, 2017 and each team is required to make a 1 minute video and make a poster for the prototype they carry. During the competition each team is required to open a booth stand to promote and showcase the prototype that has been created by the finalist team.

Every day the jury will come to assess the performance of each team, both from a technical point of view, future business plans and also visitor responses to the prototype we carry. The series of peak assessment is Pitching about prototype on stage for 5 minutes. Here again the judges (6-10 judges from various countries) will test the team in front of all TIC 2017 audience.

Some industry visitors, such as NFC Labs, offer co-operation and investment for the prototype. Both teams also get appreciation as a team with the best pitching of visitors. In the awarding session on August 17, 2017, Telkom University KnocKnock Team won 1st place in the category of “Most Innovative e-Health Solution”. “We dedicate this champion as a reward for the independence of the Indonesian republic,” said Dr. Satria Mandala.

Meanwhile, Telkom University Rector Professor Mochamad Ashari expressed his appreciation, “We hope this achievement as a motivation for us, to continue to incise achievements in the international arena, especially our University is concentrated in that direction (towards world university)” he concluded.
