CAATIS-RA: Center for Benefit-Based Research

Telkom University has a research center in the form of a Research Alliance (RA) that focuses on the study and implementation of technical advances based on their advantages and suitability for the community. RA is the Center for Assessment and Application of Technological Innovation for Society (CAATIS), which was formally founded on December 21, 2022.

The majority of the innovations produced by CAATIS RA are based on the demands of target users (communities), hence the CAATIS team works based on target needs. This was revealed by the chairman of CAATIS RA, Rahmat Yasirandi S.T., M.T, during a WhatsApp interview.

“In order to produce appropriate innovations, we generally meet the needs of users (society) so that the solutions we provide in the form of technological innovations can directly solve users’ problems. CAATIS includes researchers from seven faculties at Tel-U, allowing for cross-scientific innovation,” Rahmat explained.

CAATIS RA involves two laboratories: Innovation Lab and Implementation Lab. The activities carried out at the Innovation Lab include product research, discussion, measurement, and analysis. The operations carried out in the Implementation Lab include the application and utilization of the created items.

“The Innovation Lab is on the second floor of Gd. Kultubai Utara. While the Implementation Lab is located in a leisure area, it is the outcome of a partnership between Telkom University and Bandung City Government through the Food Security and Agriculture Office. There is another one nearby Situ Techno named LAKESIDE, which will open in March,” Rahmat stated.

The ‘My Tuc-Tuc’ application is one of the products of CAATIS RA innovation that has so far been properly adopted in the Tel-U region. TUC stands for Telkom University Car. Transportation options for student mobility in the Tel-U region. Tel-U community members may use this app to track the location of the shuttle bus they want to take in real time.
