CoE IRS: Telkom University Railway Research Center

Telkom University’s School of Electrical Engineering inaugurated the Center of Excellence Intelligent Railway System (CoE IRS) as a railway system research center at Telkom University in January 2023. The CoE IRS was established in response to the demand for the advancement of railway research, particularly in meeting the needs of operation, maintenance, and diverse solutions to other problems that arise in the field. The IRS CoE was finally established due to the motivation and potential number of researchers in the field of railways at Telkom University who anticipated this demand.

The IRS CoE, which is led by Dr. Eng. Ahmad Sugiana, S.Si., M.T., a lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, involves not only research lecturers, but also students from various Telkom University study programs. The IRS CoE conducts research on signaling systems, telecommunication systems, power supply systems, and other railway-related technologies. In addition to research, the IRS CoE is involved in community service and railway initiatives. The presence of the IRS CoE bridges the demands of the railway sector by finding solutions to challenges they meet and providing experiences to researchers interested in developing solutions to real challenges in the industry. The IRS CoE is projected to continue to provide the solutions to the industry’s problems in the future.

“In the future, the IRS CoE hopes to gain the trust of industry partners in order to continue developing solutions to problems.” “Become a center for railway research collaboration, particularly in the fields of signaling, telecommunication, power, and other operating facilities.” said Ahmad Sugiana.
