Intani Application: Connecting Farmers and Investors to Develop Agricultural Business

Students at Telkom University invented an innovative product in the form of an application to help connect farmers to investors in order to be able to develop a business in the agricultural sector. The application is called Intani, which is developed as a contribution from students of Tel-U to the community.

Intani was developed by students at Telkom University from various study programs, including Muna Fauziah Az Zahra (Diploma of Accounting Information Systems); Yunia Amelia Chairunisa (Bachelor of Data Science); Indra Wahyu (Bachelor of Informatics) and a supervisor from School of Applied Sciences, Rochmawati, S.T, M.T.

The head of the Intani application development team, Muna Fauziah Az Zahra, said that Intani was developed to address from the issue faced by members in the agricultural sector, such as the difficult access to capital and the farmers’ dependence on middlemen, which often caused losses to farmers.

“The losses incurred in agricultural products can also be caused by many factors, including unstable market prices, crop failure due to weather, and farmers’ dependence on middlemen, resulting in minimal profits for farmers and laborers, and at the most severe is having a large amount of debt. Through Intani, we are aiming to provide solutions in the agricultural sector to make it easier for farmers to get access to capital,” said Muna.

Developed on September 17, 2020, the team brought Intani to participate in the Innovillage program and achieved the Top 150, announced on October 3, 2022. The Innovillage program accommodates students to participate in social activity within a community to overcome the issues that the community is currently faced.

“We received full support from Innovilage 2022 through funding, inputs, and critiques, such as the use of relevant technology,” said Muna.

The development of Intani application started from the process of designing, planning, and implementing social projects conducted through interviews or discussions with farmers in local regions (junior and senior farmers), village administrators, village youth organization, as well as Extension and Farmer Training Center (BPP) of Pangalengan regency. Apart from discussing problems, the student team also sought accurate and reliable technology with reliable parties in order to develop the social project.
