Telkom University Develops Agricultural Land Monitoring System

Bandung, Telkom University – In boosting the productivity in the agricultural sector, Telkom University conducts research and innovations as a contribution to this sector. Telkom University has successfully developed innovations on smart agriculture. Internet of Things-based technology is prepared to monitor a real-time NPK (Nitrogen, Foster, and Kalium) nutrient value of agricultural land conditions.

The research was developed by Dr. Doan Perdana, a researcher of Telkom University from the School of Electrical Engineering (FTE) as well as a Director of the Research Center Advanced Creative Networks. Through his research, Doan and his team have strived to boost the efficiency in agriculture through hardware and software devices.

Doan explained that hardware devices could be a solution for farmers in solving problems related to insufficient information of infertility on agricultural lands.

“If the process of applying fertilizers, vitamins, and water is not carried out properly, the soil fertility of agricultural lands becomes less optimal and can have a toxic effect on plants which can reduce the plant productivity.” Explained Doan.

These research and innovations have received fund support from Educational Fund Management Institution (LPDP) in collaboration with industrial partnerships, PT. Telkom DDS, UNS (University of Sebelas Maret) together with farmer group partnerships, Kismo Mulyo V. The development of features for hardware and software products will continue until 2023.
