Hundreds of Tel-U Students Opened Public Kitchen to Help Flood Victims in South Bandung

BANDUNG, TEL-U – Hundreds of Telkom University (Tel-U) students to help victims of flood in South Bandung by volunteering at a public kitchen. They cooked, packed, and distributed hundreds of rice box in a public kitchen which was located next to the Mosque Syamsul Uluum in Tel-U campus.

Public kitchen was established by students who joined the Disaster Response Tel-U (TBT) as their concern for the victims of flooding. “We divide the team into two, those who stayed in public kitchen and in flooded areas since Saturday until an unspecified time,” said Chairman of Students Executive Board (BEM), Muhammad Ghazali Suwardi, Monday (14/3).

Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) RI, Khofifah Indar Parawangsa, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, and Bandung Regent Dadang appreciated this public kitchen. “This is brilliant action because with this public kitchen on campus, we can distribute help from students directly,” said Ahmad Heryawan.

Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Khofifah and the Governor of West Java arrived on the campus of Tel-U around 14:45 pm. After greeted by Rector of Telkom University, Prof Mochamad Ashari M Eng, PhD, the minister immediately visited the public kitchen. While Bandung Regent came with a separate group after visited the public kitchen by Monday morning around 09.30 pm. (Purel / raf)
