GiriArt: Jelekong Cultural and Arts Village’s Online Marketplace by Tel-U Students

Indonesia, with its potential in arts and culture, has always been a tourist attraction both from domestic and international visitors. One of them is Jelokong Arts and Culture Village, located in Baleendah, Bandung Regency.

The Arts and Culture village has great potential, such paintings, Wayang puppet performances, traditional dances, and martial arts. This various potential must certainly be accompanied by adequate promotional activities to broaden the marketing coverage. That way, the works can be more recognized and the artists in the village can also improve their economic welfare better.

Seeing the potential and opportunity, Telkom University students chaired by Hurin Al Maziyyah together with his team designed a website named GiriArt as a means of promotion and marketing for Jelekong Arts Village. GiriArt is a social project created as a part of students’ participation in the Innovillage program.

“From the problems found, we concluded that Jeloking Arts and Culture Village still requires a media to expand market and introduce existing arts activities in Jelekong Village,” said Hurin Al Maziyyah.

The team, named ‘Innocolleague’, began by conducting a direct survey to the community, collecting data to the related problems, and refining their ideas or concepts. Next, the team sketched the initial (UI/UX) design for the GiriArt website. Then, they created a prototype of the GiriArt website. Lastly, the team implemented the website for Jelekong community.

As additional information, the Innovillage program is a social project competition which has approached its third year with the theme of “Empowering Young Sociopreneur for National Development” and #DigitalUntukSemua tagline. This program served as a platform for students to conduct social activities in a community to overcome problems that the community currently faces. The social project is funded through Innovillage 2022, and it is hoped that this program can provide benefits not only to the existing program, but also to the continued benefits to society and environment.
