BANDUNG, Telkom University – Telkom University is the first university in Indonesia to receive a Google Career Certificate scholarship. It was stated by Randy Yusuf, Country Director of Google Indonesia, at the Launching of the Google Career Certificates and Scholarship Program, which took place online. It was broadcast on the Telkom University Youtube channel Tuesday (22/3).

Randy said that Google has an excellent program, Grow with Google. This program focuses on five pillars in Indonesia: business owners, students and job seekers, developers and startups, teachers and students, and creators and journalists.

“Through this program, we (Google) offer career certificates that focus on practical learning, which can be completed as determined by each participant and accessed on the Coursera platform,” he said.

Randy also said that today Google and Telkom University, the best private universities in Indonesia, became the first universities that Google gave scholarships for as many as 2000 IT Support Certificates scholarships for students, staff, and lecturers.

“In the second pillar, we focus on job seekers and students who want to improve their skills. Grow with Google is also building a recruitment consortium with 40 company partners and is interested in receiving job applications from Google Career certificate holders.”

Ir. Sindhu Aryanto, President Director of the Telkom Education Foundation, said that Telkom Group has the same mission as Google Indonesia, which is to build digital talent for the future through the Google Career Certificates program, and it is a long-awaited program for both industry and academics.

“One of the things that happen between the industrial world and education is that there is a gap between needs and available competencies, and this is what we always want to pursue. I see Google has started to bridge the gap. I appreciate and express my highest gratitude for Google Indonesia’s initiative to choose Telkom University as its first partner to provide IT Support Certificate scholarships for 2,000 people at Telkom University.” he said.

According to him, the Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Adiwijaya, welcomed this collaboration under the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, where Indonesia needs more than 15 million digital talents in the future. Through this collaboration, Telkom University is increasingly ready to contribute to the nation by producing digital talents for the Indonesian nation.

“We hope that the collaboration between Telkom University and Google can be put to good use by the academic community to continue to improve their skills so that together we can create and become a superior generation for the Indonesian nation,” he said.

During the launching event, a webinar was also held with speakers Debby Alishinta as Managing Director of Resources for Accenture Indonesia and Chichi Utami as Group Head of IT Business Partner PT. Paragon Technology and Innovations.
