SWASTAMITA 2021: The Spiritual Revolution

Bandung, Telkom University – Telkom University as Number Private University in Indonesia continues to create diverse creative works. It’s reflected in the activities such as SWASTAMITA 2021 event.

SWASTAMITA is a series of exhibitions and annual fashion shows, the works of undergraduate students of Textile and Fashion Crafts. This 2021 show is the fourth year of SWASTAMITA. Faradillah Nursari, B.Des., M.Ds, the Head of the Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program explained that the SWASTAMITA 2021 shows a long process, starting from the stages of developing ideas, developing designs to becoming a work. It also shows the creativity and character of the designers who cannot be separated from various environmental influences and habits as the Indonesian that is in line with nowadays times.

“SWASTAMITA 2021 exhibits the best crafts, accessories, and clothing from 7 Studio lectures, namely Fashion Design for Basic Fashion, Fashion Accessories, and other courses as well as Final Projects for Textile and Fashion Craft 1 Study Program students in the 2020-2021 period,” She explained.

Faradillah added that the limited situation of the COVID-19 pandemic did not dampen the enthusiasm of the academics of the Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program to continue to hold SWASTAMITA 2021. The limitations faced led to a new concept, namely the holding of SWASTAMITA 2021 online for all series of activities carried out has been planned. The hope is that with the new concept, SWASTAMITA 2021 can offer a new experience.

SWASTAMITA 2021 will be held on October 13-15 through ZOOM Meeting and Youtube and consists of three series of events, namely virtual exhibition, virtual fashion show, and creative talks.

Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya as the Rector of Telkom University explained that SWASTAMITA 2021 set the theme ‘The Spiritual Revolution. Its spirit is to pay more attention to the philosophy of life and appreciate it. Also, during the pandemic situation, everyone continues to explore various possibilities for the expression of new ideas.

“We also hope that this event can introduce Indonesian local wisdom globally through virtual exhibitions, virtual fashion shows, and creative talks. Hopefully, this event can have a big impact in the short and long term in Textile Crafts and Fashion, not only for Telkom University but also globally.”

Ahda Yunia Sekar, SSn., M.Sn as the Curator of this event said that this event was created as a place to express oneself through art amidst the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic. SWASTAMITA 2021, which features more than 150 works, can be seen through exhibitions and virtual fashion shows on the bit.ly/SWASTAMITA2021 page.

“Through SWASTAMITA 2021, it is hoped that the collaboration network of the Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program with Indonesian Creative Industry players is growing, and contribute to increasing knowledge references in the implementation of exhibition activities and fashion shows in the Craft world. Not to forget, with this activity, it is certainly a publication activity for all students of the Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program.”
